Realtors and Solar a Match Made in the Solar System

With just over 20,000 real estate agents and Realtors in Connecticut alone, it’s easy to see that it's a very popular profession. The recent runup in prices, initially fueled by the pandemic, brought a couple of thousand more people into the industry.

Now that the real estate market has entered into what many are calling a correction phase, it's also easy to see that the pace of real estate transactions has slowed, and in some areas, stopped completely.

There are two other trends in place. The first is the work from home, or WFH, a trend which is now firmly in place. Employers are seeing the benefits and cost reductions associated with not maintaining thousands of square feet of office space, and American workers are realizing that working from home has many benefits.

People are also noticing that working from home allows them to get to those home improvement projects faster, and that while working from home, they are using a lot more electricity than they have in the past. Many are adding electric vehicles, or would like to.

The other trend that is already firmly in place and shows no signs of slowing down is the “Gig Economy”. Seems like everyone is Gigging something today. Whether they are developing a long held interest into a business, taking 10-12 hours a week to provide a service they are already good at, or building a “side hustle” into additional income, the list is endless.

There are very good reasons for these trends. Because there’s one more thing going on that’s not even a trend anymore. The cost of everything is going up - fast. Everywhere we look, even our most basic needs have dramatically increased in price. Rising utility costs lead the list of homeowner complaints.

Realtors and Agents are almost always very empathetic and family-oriented people. How do I know this? I’ve been a Realtor or a Broker for 12 of the last 20 years. It’s a great profession. It demands very strong people skills, communication skills, analytical skills, market understanding, and most importantly, a commitment to your community.

And finally, a good Realtor knows that they are a part of the community they live and work in. Almost all their efforts are aimed at this. Realtors join everything! And when we are licensed we also pay for everything. A recent glance at current costs for licensing, MLS and dues brings a Realtor's annual costs to nearly $1,500. That is just to be a Realtor! There are no startup or annual fees to be a professional Solar Analyst.

This brings me to my profession as a Solar Analyst. For the past 8 years, its rare when I don’t have an experience that says to me “wow, this is so similar to being a listing agent”. Or, when determining the most efficient solar design for a client’s home, how I’m constantly looking for additional efficiencies I can build into the project to lower my client’s costs.

That brings me to why I’m telling you this in the first place. We’re hiring, and business is strong. There is a very strong demand for high quality residential solar, and as a Real Estate Agent or Realtor (or Broker), you are in a very good position to capitalize on it, on either a full time, part time, or what I call “sometime” basis.

Can you earn a living in Solar? The compensation in residential solar is similar to real estate with two very big exceptions.

If you were to sell a house every single week (sometimes 2) that would be a pretty strong year - agreed? With solar, that’s not unusual at all. We’ll provide you with all the training you need to get up and running quickly.

People in Connecticut are seriously fed up with the exorbitant utility bills they are forced to pay. It affects all income levels. The utilities are a monopoly. Everyone understands these things. This is not a trend. This is not going to change. All market indicators are that it will only get harder and harder for Connecticut residents to afford one of the most basic human needs we all share - the constant flow of electricity to our homes.

Solar, on the other hand, is a proven technology that simply replaces your client's high electricity bills with a much lower monthly cost that never increases. Think about that. Can you name any other consumer product that never goes up in price? Solar does not.

Finally, exactly like real estate, solar is a market. At less than 7% market penetration, the solar market is well-established, but has at least 20 years of growth ahead. Imagine if only 7% of people knew a good real estate agent? What would that market look like to you?

So that's our value proposition. We live in Connecticut, so we have to work hard and earn a good living. We care about our families, neighbors, our communities, and our Earth.

At Good Sun Solar, we work by referral and appointment only in the communities where we live. We professionally analyze our client's needs, and answer their questions and provide real, workable solutions. We are a complete counterbalance to the unfortunate hype and pressure used by competitors. You know those websites that yell at you to put in your zip code to see if you qualify for free solar? That's nonsense. That's not us. That would dishonor us.

And make no mistake, people are hurting. People don't like to talk about it, but they're struggling with our high cost of living, and their utility bills are at the center of it. Plus, unlike so many other costs built into our lives, with utility bills there is something you can actually do about it. Try lowering your insurance or food costs 40%. Solar actually provides these benefits, and more.

A high quality, custom-designed, efficient solar system works extremely well. It's why I've committed my career to the industry. I've seen the positive impact solar has on Connecticut families. And, statistics tell us you already know at least 6 families that will likely go solar this year. Why not go solar with you? Let us show you how.

We are Good Sun - A Solar Company. We are licensed to work in any town in Connecticut or Massachusetts.

We have a clean, transparent business model that is fair, and market based. As a real estate professional, you understand what it means to have a fiduciary responsibility to your clients. At Good Sun Solar, we require that also and take it very seriously.
